Pix666: Hello Ianai. Thanks for your time. How are you doing these days?
Ianai: Very good thank you! Living very exciting times now with IANAI. It has been a long journey here and now the release of this debut album is finally around the corner.
Pix666: Please tell the readers how everything started with IANAI and what kind of music you make?
Ianai: This is alternative world music. Music from another world. This album just started writing itself a few years ago. The world around the music started building up from a little spark and then sucked me in completely and it still keeps on growing and surprising me, so I have been just enjoying the ride where I sometimes even feel like a bystander.
Pix666: In your very atmospheric music, I can hear numerous, even unusual instruments. Do you play all the instruments yourself, or do you have support from other musicians?
Ianai: In the writing phase, I played everything myself with whatever instruments I had within my reach, but later in the process, I got all the needed tracks replaced by real instruments played by a huge group of crazy talented musicians that were willing to make a dive into this realm with me.
Pix666: Recently your new song/video ‘Savoj Icoil’ was released – how were the reactions to this song so far?
Ianai: The feedback has been amazing! In the beginning, I still tried to hide my true identity so I didn’t get that much direct feedback from people, but then some journalists connected the dots from the first press release and it became obvious to me that it would be impossible to stay incognito as a Trevenial in this day and age. However, the feedback has been only good so far.
Pix666: Your album will follow in soon. Is ‘Sunir‘ already possible to pre-order? In which versions will it be available?
Ianai: Yes you can pre-order it on vinyl and CD already!
Pix666: Is IANAI planned as a band/project for listening and enjoying at home, or are live performances also in the pipeline?
Ianai: We are currently working with the live lineup. And yes, I want to take this music to the stage, but I can’t see this concept being present in rock clubs. It needs to be an experience with lots of visuals too!
Pix666: Let´s talk a little bit about your songs. How do you create your songs? Is there a team that was involved in the finishing of the songs?
Ianai: I create these songs in a very special, spiritual, and trance-like state. When composing or singing, I am the Trevenial, and I kind of channel the music from and in that special world, and I have to dive as deep as I can and really believe in it so it comes out naturally and authentically.
Then, the production part is a totally different game and takes a lot of work and patience. Then, other musicians also step in, and, oftentimes, their ideas can take the song into very special directions. I am fortunate that I have a long career in the music industry, so I know a lot of amazing musicians to share this project with.
Pix666: Where should your journey with IANAI take you – do you have any dreams or wishes?
Ianai: I want to create all kinds of art with IANAI and touch people’s hearts and souls. It has been beautiful to read messages from people who have really opened themselves to this music and given themselves a chance to try to really feel it. It was not a surprise that I have already gotten a lot of messages from spiritual people about their special experiences in IANAI’s world. The real light comes with the darkness, and it is not always easy to face them both, but then the ride is also way richer and more rewarding.
Pix666: Do you have any other news about IANAI, that you would like to share with the fans?
Ianai: Thank you for reading this interview, and I hope you will be spending your precious time with “Sunir” in a place where we can hide from daily matters. Also, please share with us how you felt there!
Pix666: Thank you very much for the interesting answers – Good luck for the future and stay healthy!!!
Ianai: You too! It was a pleasure!
