QUICKIE OF THE WEEK: A short interview with Dom Delfino (NOWHERE LEFT)

written by Marko Jakob

Pix666: Hello and thanks for your time. Please introduce your band to the readers in a few short sentences. Where are you from and what kind of music do you make?

Dom: Hello everyone! My name is Dom from the band Nowhere Left. We are an emo rock band from New York.

Pix666: What inspired you to become a musician and who were your most important musical influences?

Dom: I started playing guitar when I was 13. At the time I was really into metalcore music. I started learning songs from bands like Asking Alexandria, Attack Attack!, blessthefall and all the artists that we’re really popping off around that time period. I ended up just falling in love with music and decided I wanted to be in a band and create music. Nowadays music of all genres influence me.

Pix666: Recently you released your new single ‘Disguise‘. How were the reactions to the new song so far?

Dom: People seem to really relate to the song and all the songs we’ve released recently for that matter. It’s an amazing feeling knowing others can connect with what you write about and choose to speak on.

Pix666: You have already made some great music videos. Do you actually look at the number of views on YouTube and read the fans’ comments?

Dom: We try and respond to everyone we can. We’d be nothing without our fans and I feel like we owe it to them to connect with them as much as possible. They go out of their way to support us and we feel we should go out of our way to support them just the same. We’ll talk to anyone and we’re extremely thankful for the amount of views, streams, etc.

Pix666: Will there also be a complete album from you this year?

Dom: The album is finished! Whether or not the album releases this year hasn’t been decided. We’d like to release it before the year is over but we don’t have a set release date just yet.

Pix666: Was it actually problematic to finish the new songs during the pandemic? Were there any unexpected difficulties?

Dom: We had 3 different studio sessions throughout the last year to complete the album. The pandemic honestly didn’t really interfere all too much thankfully.

Pix666: … and how do you create your songs and what are your lyrics about?

Dom: We write from personal experiences. Each song on the album is a different chapter of a relationship I was in and the aftermath of how it affected my life later on. People often write about heartbreak but we took it further and broke down every bit of what it’s like to go through and come out of a traumatic relationship.

Pix666: Do you already have concerts or a tour planned for this year? I can imagine that the fans can’t wait to experience the energy of your songs live on stage.

Dom: We would have liked to be touring already but we’ve had a lot on our plate between wrapping up the album, music videos, etc. We’re starting rehearsals in August and should be ready to hit the road this Fall.

Pix666: How did your band name actually come about, and what meaning does it have for you?

Dom: We spent forever trying to come up with a name, especially in 2022 when almost every name you can think of is already taken by someone else. The concept came to me from a low point thinking that we’ve all had some point in our lives where we felt like we hit rock bottom and couldn’t be saved.

We know a lot of people out there share that feeling of being down bad but we try to always find the light in any situation even at your lowest low, it just means there’s nowhere left to go but up!

Pix666: How do you see the impact of social media for the music business? From your point of view, is it more of an advantage or a disadvantage for your band?

Dom: Social media is absolutely an advantage for music. Without social media there would be no exposure for artists not signed to major labels. I think it’s especially thriving now with Instagram Reels and Tiktok. I’ve seen so many artists including ourselves now organically gain a massive following just due to these platforms providing these new tools to artists. We’re incredibly grateful to be able to connect to so many people around the world.

Pix666: What have been the most memorable experiences for you as a musician so far?

Dom: There’s nothing like touring. Being able to travel around the world and meet people your music has impacted is amazing. Performing in general is just a fun experience and creating music with your best friends that simultaneously helps you cope through your emotions. Really just about every experience I’ve had as a musician I hold near and dear to my heart.

Pix666: Do you have dreams and wishes for your future with your band?

Dom: I think any band can agree that we just want to keep growing and touring and meeting as many fans as possible.

Pix666: What do you do when you’re not into music – do you have an interesting job or extraordinary hobbies?
Dom: My second passion to music is photography. I love going out and just shooting pretty much anything. Whether it’s landscapes, portraits, or wildlife, I just love being able to capture incredible moments and always be creative with another artform.

Pix666: Do you have any other news about Nowhere Left, that you would like to share with the fans?

Dom: We’re going to keep dropping new music regularly so keep your eyes peeled and stay up to date on all of our socials. Tours, new merch and so much more is also on the horizon. We want to thank everyone for their love and support it truly means everything to us and we’re just getting started.

Pix666: Thank you very much for the interesting answers – Good luck for the future and stay healthy!

Dom: Thanks for having me!
