QUICKIE OF THE WEEK: A short interview with Adrien Rossero (Perseide)

written by Marko Jakob

Pix666: Hello Adrien. Thanks for your time. How are you doing these days, are you alive and well? How are the other guys of Perseide?

Adrien: Hey, I am alive like never before, and the rest of the band too. We are living our dream, even though we are not a famous band, everything around the band is going well, we are 4 friends in good health doing our passion and living news adventures with the PERSEIDE days after days, years after years. It couldn’t be better.

Pix666: First of all, congratulations. Recently you signed a contract with well-known label WormHoleDeath. How did the contact come about, who made the first step? What do you think will be the advantages of working with such a strong partner in the future?

Adrien: It’s amazing cause we didn’t know this label before, and it’s a guy (Fernando from A World Of Metal blogg) who gave us the WormHoleDeath contact. Fernando wrote a review about our album and mail us to contact the label in his name, it’s a really nice guy! Everything that happens with the label is thanks to him! Thank you Fernando!

Pix666: Please introduce your band to the readers in a few short sentences. How did you meet as a band and what kind of music does Perseide make?

Adrien: We are 4 childhood friends! We have grew up in the same village, we where neighbor! One day when we have 15, we decided to start the band, and 20 years laters we are here, it’s as simple as it. So simple and at the same time so unbelievable. So many adventures we have lived. We can write a book, or make a movie! Musically, we do the only shit we know how to do lol

We come from NU metal generation with some bands like Linkin Park, Korn, Deftones. We grew up listening Sum 41, Papa Roach, In Flames, Marilyn Manson…. Music with big chorus, big riff. We don’t try to do something complicated but something efficiency, 3 minutes that blow up your mind. When you listen to PERSEIDE you must no longer be afraid of death, death must be afraid by our music haha

Pix666: You’ve been on the road with Perseide for so many years now. What have been the best experiences and milestones with your band so far?

Adrien: In 2011 we played in America (New York, Philadelphia, Delaware, Washington, Boston, Frederick burgs…), something like 30 shows. It was completely amazing. The little frenchies in USA, when you have 20 years, it is an experience that is unforgettable. It will remain one of the best memories of our life.

Pix666: Now you have re-released your first album ‘The Only Thing’ on your new label. But what about new songs – in summer the smash song ‘9th Life’ was released – will there be more news from you soon?

Adrien: Completely! We have new songs that have been recorded and are ready to release! With Julien we are constantly composing new material. We go regularly in studio to record new material. There will be plenty of surprises in 2022!

Pix666: Some of your videos have over 100,000 views on YouTube. I’m a fan of statistics of all kinds. What about you, Adrien? Do you know, for example, in which countries the people who listen to your music live?

Adrien: To be honest we don’t look about statistics, we don’t take the time. Maybe we will do it. A lot of comments are come from South America (Argentina, Mexico…) maybe we are a famous band there! Lol

It doesn’t matter where listeners come from, we make music to reach as many people as possible. We are the happiest in the world when our music goes around the world.

Pix666: How do you generally create your songs? Is there a certain plan? Who in the band is responsible for what?

Adrien: With Julien we are composing songs from our side. When a riff, a melody or a chorus sounds good, we work together on this with the band until it becomes a hit! Every week we meet up with the band to play together., and drink beers, of course. It’s our moment to become teenagers again. It’s in this state of mind that the magic operates.

Pix666: Were you allowed to play concerts during the Corona period and do you already have plans for concerts in 2022?

Adrien: We can’t talk about it too much at the moment. Normally we will do a European tour on 2022. But with the pandemic it’s complicated. And we have a big show in our country (Lyon) in April with great bands! We have to announce things soon!

Pix666: The music business has changed a lot in the last decades. Social media and music streaming have a big impact on everything.  From your point of view, what are the advantages and disadvantages of this development for your band. How much do Perseide use social media and where are you represented?

Adrien: Yes the music business is completely different now than it was at the beginning of the band. Now anyone can make an album alone in his room and spread it over the world with social media, streaming platforms. So there is billions of new music each days. It’s completely amazing.

But the strength of a band is to make something bigger than just music. It’s an history between people, between friends, it’s an energy. Sometimes it’s complicated, but everything in a band is intense, there is something magical. Something that we cannot explain. With social media you can spread all this things, there is no longer barriers between us and our listeners. They are becoming a part of our history.

Pix666: Do you play any other instruments besides guitar? Who are your musical idols, if you have any, and what was the point for you to realize that you wanted to become a musician?

Adrien: Guitare is my main love, with, I can create a melody, a riff, a songs. I can express myself. Is the only thing I need to do. And my guitar do it perfectly. When I was a child I listened Hard Rock, Progressive Rock with guitare hero like Petrucci, Satriani, Van Halen… It was depressing cause this guys are so technically, and I thought I could never be a musician like them.

And one day I heard ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ from Nirvana, and my reaction was: “woaaaa you can do a monster single with 4 notes ! So I can do it, I have no longer excuse!” Until I was 20 I tried to compose our ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ lol

Pix666: As a musician, you certainly spend most of your time creating music – but what else do you do in your free time when you want to get your mind off things – are there any interesting hobbies that you pursue?

Adrien: Yes, I need to feel myself alive, I need to be in the nature, I really love mountain… I love running!

With the band we love sport, surf, mountain sport, snowboarding, freeride… and beers, of course. Especially beers. Belgian beers.

Pix666: Do you have any other news, that you would like to share with the fans?

Adrien: We are preparing something very special for the year to come. We try always to surprise our listeners.

Just for you: We have recorded one of the first song we composed at the start of the band. This song is called Forsaken Star, and all the people and friends who have known us from the beginning know this song. Now she is recorded with our 2022 sound! And it will release with a music video before the summer… Now you know haha, the surprise is dead cause of you, slut. Lol

Pix666: Thank you very much for the interesting answers – Good luck and stay healthy!!!

Adrien: Thank you too! It was a pleasure!
