QUICKIE OF THE WEEK: A short interview with Toxi Ghoul (Motel Transylvania) May 2020

written by Marko Jakob

.Pix666: Hello Toxi. The most important question right at the beginning. Are you well and are you healthy?

Toxi: Hello! First of all, thank you very much for this space. Even if it’s not the best period for all of us, I am fine and healthy.

Pix666: Please explain to readers who don’t know you yet what kind of music you make as Motel Transylvania.

Toxi: Well, take the perviest part of Elvis on drugs and full of alcohol with a fetish for all that’s macabre and force him to stay in cage with The Misfits for a whole year… maybe that’s the best way I could describe our project.

Pix666: Is it right that you have a new band member recently? What will this change on stage? … in any case it will soon be time for new band photos and fan art. 🙂

Toxi: Yes, we do. We have always had guests on stage, it is something we love to do with musicians that we respect and, above all, to break that invisible barrier between stage and audience.
The choice was dictated not only by the possibility of focusing even more on the stage presence and on the interaction between the “frontman” and the spectator, but also to give each of us the opportunity to concentrate on his own instrument, expressing his potential to the maximum.
The photoshooting of the new lineup was already planned before the lockdown, but we couldn’t do it. We are planning to do it in the next months…

Pix666: Were you just on tour with the band when the lockdown came? Did you have to cancel or postpone concerts?

Toxi: No, the tour was about to kick off the exact weekend when the lockdown began and we had to pospone gigs in Italy, Poland, Catalunia, Spain and France… fingers crossed for the german shows in autumn, which are still confirmed.

Pix666: When will your next concerts with an audience take place, and do you think that these dates can be kept?

Toxi: We hope to be able to respect our gig schedule in autumn and winter, but obviously the safety of our audience is paramount.

Pix666: How difficult it is to work together as a band at the moment. Rehearsals, video shootings and similar things are hardly realizable, are they?

Toxi: It is difficult because, even if we all live in the same city, quarantine laws here in Italy are severe. Yet we previously had new stuff and, thanks to technology, everybody in the band is able to put his own effort into the new tracks. Also, besides Motel Transylvania, I am working on a new project that will unearth my industrial roots (spoiler! ahahah)

Pix666: Will you play a live streaming session for the single release – if so, where can the fans see it?

Toxi: While waiting to be back on stage, we are thinking about releasing on our socials studio and acoustic sessions

Pix666: You are from Italy – your country is most affected by the Corona crisis – what is the general mood in the country?

Toxi: Well, starting with the fact that we’re governed by an army of retarded cunts who are managing the whole situation in a totally randomic way, everybody is groping in the dark, waiting for some certainty-
What angers us the most is that often the people from the most infected areas are the first ones that are totally ignoring the restrictions.

Pix666: Do you use the time of isolation to write new songs?

Toxi: Yes, I am writing a lot. We have 3 new Motel Transylvania songs and 2 tracks of the new project waiting to be recorded.

Pix666: Do you believe that this crisis will change the behaviour of humanity in the future?

Toxi: No, I don’t think so. I only think that this period we are leaving will only fuel the nihilism and the individualism of people. In my opinion, the consequences will turn the “social distancing” into a “mental distancing”.

Pix666: What things, apart from being live on stage, do you miss the most at the moment?

Toxi: Surely being on the road with my guys and partying with old and new friends.

Pix666: Do you have any other news about Motel Transylvania that you would like to share with the fans?

Toxi: We are collecting ideas for 2 new videoclips. One will be released in october.

Pix666: Thank you very much for the interesting insights into your present life – Stay healthy!

Toxi: Many thanks to you, I hope to see you soon on the road. Stay safe!
