QUICKIE OF THE WEEK: A short interview with Kristian Fyhr (Seventh Crystal)

written by Marko Jakob

Pix666: Hello Kristian. Thanks for your time. How are you doing these days, are you alive and well? How are the other guys of Seventh Crystal?

Kristian: Hello. All of us are alive and well.

Pix666: Please introduce your band to the readers in a few short sentences. What kind of music does Seventh Crystal make?

Kristian: Gothenburg based Seventh Crystal delivers an exciting combination of the scandinavian melancholic sound combined with strong toplines and classical rock influences. With backgrounds in music ranging from the styles of Toto to Behemoth, all of the members are united in the fact that good music will always be good – no matter the genre. This is why we can hear a common thread in the songs, no matter whether they be an instrumental ballad, a melodic hard rock tune the songs are there to move the audience and carry a story we all can relate to.

Seventh Crystal’s music is meant to be felt, to touch that raw and real spot where you can escape into another world and become completely immersed in the lyrics and melodic lines of each song. Are you ready to be taken on a musical journey?

Pix666: What was your inspiration to become a musician and did you sing in other bands before Seventh Crystal started?

Kristian: I’ve always had a piano in my home, the music has always been close. I’m a creative person. My music teacher that I had in school always let us stay for as long as we wanted. He was a great inspiration!

Before Seventh I sang in several bands from the age of 16. The ones worth mention is that i played covers with Imre Daun and Peter Nordholm from Don Patrol for several years. I recently quit Perpetual Etude to focus a hundred percent on Seventh.

Pix666: Last summer you signed a contract with Frontiers Music. How important was this step for you, especially regarding to the production and promotion of the single and the album?

Kristian: Of course it’s an important step to have a major record company in our backs with their channels and great amount of followers.

Pix666: In May 2021 your debut album ‚Delirium‘ will be released. What can fans expect and in which versions can the fans buy your Album, and above all, where? Is it already available for pre-order?

Kristian: This album reflects all five of us in the band. We’ve put our soul into the making of the album. We really hope that people will hear that we mess around through different genres allowing a wider audience.

Our album ‚Delirium‘ can be bought on CD and LP. They are already available on Frontiers webshop. https://orcd.co/seventhcrystal

Pix666: Some weeks ago, the video clip ‚Say What You Need To Say‘ was released. Where did you shoot the clip? Who was part of the team and were there any complications during the shoot due to certain Corona restrictions?

Kristian: This music video is recorded at two different locations. We recorded the performance here in Sweden near gothenburg and the dancers were recorded in Switzerland. Our film producer Max also lives there!

Pix666: The video reached more than 150.000 views on YouTube within a few weeks. How satisfied are you with that? Are you a statistic fan, do you even watch these things? Do you know in which countries Seventh Crystal is listened most?

Kristian: We are so happy to see all those views. Of course we watch the numbers growing, haha! It’s always exciting in the beginning to see the response and feedback!

I have no clue in which countries people listen to us.

Pix666: When you release an album and then you can’t play the songs live in front of an audience, it’s a pretty stupid situation. Do you have a streaming event or something similar planned as an option on the release date?

Kristian: We are going to record six of the song with the full band in a studio live with video here in Sweden 18th of April that will be released later on. I think for now the plan is to be in my backyard celebrating the hard work at a safe distance outside.

Pix666: The pandemic unfortunately still has us in its grip, in Germany we are even in a lockdown again. Nevertheless, is Seventh Crystal already planning some 2021 concerts around the album release or some festivals in summer?

Kristian: If we get a hold of the situation we will be ready for you guys. At the moment there are no solid plans, but some interest from around the globe.

Pix666: What is the current situation in Sweden and especially the mood among the people?

Kristian: Well, I guess everybody’s tired of this shit. I have my studio at home so i am writing new music!

Pix666: As a musician, you certainly spend most of your time creating music – but what else do you do in your free time when you want to get your mind off things – are there any interesting hobbies that you pursue? 😊

Kristian: Yes, I play disc golf! Nice with a walk in the wood throwing discs in bascets. When I’m not throwing discs i’m spend a great amount of time in the garden!

Pix666: Do you have any other news, that you would like to share with the fans?

Kristian: We have plenty of material for you guys to show you when the album is done. In the end of April we have another music video for you guys!

More about that pretty soon!

Pix666: Thank you very much for the interesting answers – Good luck with the album and stay healthy!!!

Kristian: Thank you!
